Martin Salazar was born in Cali, Colombia but moved to New Jersey when he was eight years old. In 2007 he was accepted into Ringling College of Art & Design, where he majored in Graphic & Interactive Communication for 4 years. During his time in college, he was fortunate to have two internships where he worked on editorial projects: the first was with Roger Black in NYC, and the second was with Fernando Gutierrez in London. After graduating, he worked as a designer at ESPN magazine with award-winning creative directors, John Korpics and Chin Wang. He went on to work at GQ magazine, under legendary magazine design director Fred Woodward. For nearly five years, Woodward taught him the power of ideas and finding harmony between typography and photography. Martin has now moved on to work as an art director at MTV, where he collaborates with photographers, illustrators, designers, and animators alike to brand new television shows.
His work has been recognized by The Type Directors Club, The Society of Publication Designers, and Graphis. He has a strong passion for anything to do with design and typography. You can contact him at martinsalazardesign(at)gmail.com
